“Splitboarding is freedom…”

Filmmaker Sam Giffin’s ode to the snowboarders dedicated to earning their turns in untouched powder, this short film was shot on location at Giffin’s adopted mountain home, Mount Baker, Washington. Famous for its outrageous annual snowfall and deep-rooted snowboard culture, Mount Baker’s backcountry is some of the most spectacular in the lower 48, tucked away in the heart of the Cascade Mountains hard against the Canadian border. It’s here that splitboarders can still find fresh snow and unridden lines, turning away from the hum of the resort’s lifts and into the freedom of the backcountry.
